how arth audits

Nothing sugarcoated. Everything shown.

At Arth, we put complete transparency between what you need and the product you buy. Our systems strip away the sugarcoating and test every product on four questions. Then we show you what we find.

01

Why is it good for us?

02

Is it genuinely clean?

03

Have people really felt good using it?

04

Are its certifications genuine?

Why four questions?

A clean ingredient list doesn't mean a product does anything for you. Glowing reviews don't mean a clean label. A certification logo doesn't prove either. Any one check can be gamed or can miss something, so we ask all four of every product, and we put what we find in front of you instead of asking you to take our word for it.

question one

Why is it good for us?

We look at what a product claims to do, and whether credible research supports it. Where the claim is thin, we say so, so you know what a product can and can't promise.

✓

A clear job, backed by research

The ingredient or method has credible evidence for the benefit the product describes.

✗

Big claims with no evidence behind them

Detox, cleanse and miracle language that research doesn't support is called out, not repeated.

✓

Honest limits

If a product's benefit is modest or comfort-based, we describe it that way.

question two

Is it genuinely clean?

Every ingredient on a product is checked against restricted-substance lists, including EU CosIng and California Prop 65. Think of it as a very thorough friend who has read every label.

✗

Synthetic fragrance & parfum

A single word that can hide hundreds of undisclosed compounds. Always flagged.

✗

Parabens & harsh preservatives

Linked to hormone disruption. A paraben in a leave-on product is an automatic rejection.

✗

SLS, SLES & harsh sulfates

Common in foaming products and flagged at the source.

✗

PEGs, oxybenzone & phthalates

Penetration enhancers, chemical sunscreen actives and plasticisers are all flagged.

✓

Essential oils by botanical name

Lavandula angustifolia, rosehip, jojoba. These are not synthetic fragrance, so they pass.

question three

Have people really felt good using it?

We analyze reviews, forum threads and press from across the globe and filter for the genuine ones. What people actually experience matters as much as what a label says.

✓

Consistent, specific outcomes

Reviews that name real results, like calmer skin, no irritation or a scent as described, are a positive signal.

✗

Patterns of reactions or irritation

When several people report the same reaction, it is a red flag however good the ingredient list looks.

✗

Claims that don't match experience

If a brand says "fragrance free" and customers keep reporting a strong scent, we catch it.

✓

Fake and incentivized praise filtered out

We look for the reviews written by people who used the product, and set the rest aside.

question four

Are its certifications genuine?

A badge on a bottle is not proof. Where a product carries a certification, we check that it is real, current and issued by an independent body, such as EWG Verified.

✓

Independent, verifiable certifications

The certifying body is named, and the certificate can be traced back to it.

✗

Home-made seals and look-alike logos

Badges a brand awarded itself, or that imitate a real certification, don't count.

✗

Expired or mismatched certificates

A certificate that no longer applies to the current formula is not treated as proof.

Every product is looked at on all four. We show you what we find, with no score to hide behind and no "mostly clean."

What happens after the audit.

Product passes

Listed on Arth

The product is published with a verified badge and full ingredient disclosure on its page.

Product fails

Not listed

The product is logged as rejected, with the specific reason recorded. Popular brands are treated the same as unknown ones.

Brand reformulates

Audited again from scratch

If a brand changes its formula, we run the audit again. Verified status reflects the current formulation only.

You don't need to understand the technology to trust the result.

Our systems, built with AI, do the reading no person has time for: every ingredient list, every review, every certificate. What you see is the result, laid out plainly. There is no sponsored placement, and no exceptions for big brands with big budgets.

Do brands pay to be listed?

No. A product earns its place through the audit. Payment plays no role.

What if I recognise a brand that isn't here?

It either hasn't been reviewed yet, or it didn't pass. We add new brands regularly.

Can a product lose its verified status?

Yes. If a brand reformulates or new customer data raises concerns, we audit again. Verified means verified now, not forever.

Is this the same as organic certification?

No. A certification checks a formula against one standard. We ask four questions, and one of them is whether the certifications themselves are genuine.

The research is done. Shop with confidence.
